MyChart and the Epic Electronic Health Record System are hosted through University of Iowa Healthcare. Should you visit another University of Iowa healthcare provider, all of your information will be available in one place.
Paperless Billing Statements
Effective January 30, 2024 — If you use MyChart, you’ll now automatically receive your bill digitally through your MyChart account instead of receiving a copy in the mail. You can also pay your bill in MyChart, too.
If you prefer to receive a paper statement in the mail, you can opt out of paperless statements. The guarantor on your account can log in to change the settings, or ask our staff for assistance.
Prompt Pay Discount
Being prompt pays! Cass Health is now offering a 15% discount on Cass Health bills that are paid in full within 30 days of first notice. To receive the discount, patients must contact Patient Financial Services first. Patients can contact Patient Financial Services by:

Disclosure of Sex Assigned at Birth
Why We Are Asking
As of July 1, 2024, Cass Health and all healthcare organizations across the country are required to record every patient’s sex assigned at birth due to a new rule from the federal government. You may choose to not disclose this information, and in our medical record system, your sex assigned at birth will say “choose not to disclose.”
Why This Matters for Your Health
If you choose not to disclose, then our electronic medical record, EPIC, will not have the proper health maintenance topics for cancer screenings and your lab result values may not accurately reflect the expected normal ranges.
For example, if you were born with female anatomy and are listed as a female, our records will indicate that you would need screenings for cervical cancer and breast cancer. If you were born with female anatomy and choose not to disclose that information, then those screenings will not be a part of your care plan.
Additionally, certain lab tests have different normal value ranges for men and women, which may give you incorrect information about your test results.
Why This Matters to Your Healthcare Provider
Our goal is to work with you to achieve your best possible health. By knowing the full picture of your health history, we have better information to help us make decisions together about what screenings you need, and whether your lab values are of concern.
You Can Enter this Information Privately in MyChart
If you do not wish to disclose this information to our staff, but you would like this information in your medical record, you can privately enter it in your MyChart account.
- Log into your MyChart account at mychart.casshealth.org or through the app.
- Go to Menu.
- Go to Account Settings.
- Go to Personal Information.
- Under “Details About Me” select Edit.
- There is a dropdown menu for “Sex Assigned at Birth” with the following options:
- Choose not to disclose
- Female
- Male
- Not recorded on birth certificate
- Uncertain
- Unknown
- Click “Save Changes” to finish.
Two-Factor Authentication
Using the most advanced security to protect your private health information is important to us. Beginning January 23, 2024, your MyChart account will require two-factor authentication. Two-factor authentication helps to keep your account secure if someone learns your password.
What is two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication is a security measure that uses two steps to verify your identity. These steps typically include the use of your password as well as a code that is sent to you by email or text message.
How often will I need a new code to log in to MyChart?
You will need a new login code at least every 90 days for each device you use to log in to MyChart.
Can I turn two-factor authentication off?
Yes. Follow the steps below to turn two-factor authentication off or on. We recommend keeping it on for better security.
When logging on from aweb browser:
- Log in to your MyChart account.
- From the home page, select Your Menu.
- Scroll to Security Settings.
- On the Security Settings page, click the Turn on two-step verification button.
- Follow the steps to turn on or off two-factor authentication.
When logging on from theMyChart app:
- Log in to your mobile app.
- From the home page, select Menu.
- Scroll to Account Settings.
- On the Account Settings page, tap Two-Step Verification.
- Follow the steps to turn on or off two-factor authentication.
What happens if I don’t receive my code via phone or email?
If you do not receive your code right away, please be patient. It may take up to 15 minutes.
